Never Abandoned

Image
Rusty and I made a short trip to Mississippi this weekend to see his dad. He is not doing well and we would appreciate prayers for his peace and comfort and for the family during this time. Rusty will have his first prosthetic appointment tomorrow. It’s been three weeks since the doctor told him he was released to go, but the paperwork was a whole other issue.  As we go into this week not knowing what to expect, we know one thing… God has been with us through many trials, disappointments, and heartbreaks. He has never abandoned us before and He won’t start now.  Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you. -Deuteronomy 31:8 WON'T START NOW - SEPH SCHLUETER Click here to receive an email when new blog content is posted. https://follow.it/hallelujahe-we-are-not-alone?leanpu

Afraid to Die

I was 14 years old riding a borrowed 3-wheeler and I was going too fast, especially to be taking on a big curve on a gravel road. My sister, Amy, was on the back, at least she was until we missed the curve. There was a washed out ditch that was just as deep as it was wide. As I positioned the handlebars to make the turn, the 3-wheeler slid in the gravel and took a nose dive into the wash out. Amy went airborne right over my head and landed several feet away. She was shaken and banged up, but thankfully was overall in good shape. The force of the crash threw me as well, but since my leg was trapped behind the handlebars, it snapped my femur in two and dislocated my knee joint in the process.    I remember laying on the ground with Mom picking fire ants off of me while we waited for the ambulance . I guess the sight of my foot facing backward was a little more than she could handle, because after the EMTs loaded me on to the stretcher, they disappeared. They were now tending to ...

Letting Go

We sold our camper last weekend. The funny thing is, I wasn’t even sure it was still for sale. A  couple of months ago, we decided to list it. We hadn’t used it since Rusty’s surgeries, we weren’t sure when we would be able to again, and at this point we needed the money more than the camper. We had a few inquiries, but nothing panned out. I  had just told Rusty that since it was now prime camping season, I should probably renew the listing, but I hadn’t gotten to it yet. To be honest, it wasn’t at the top of my list. I knew it would be best to sell it, but I also hated to see it go.  I was surprised last Saturday when I  received a message from someone wanting to come look at the camper because I didn’t realize you could still see the listing.  We made arrangements for them to come out and they loved it just as much as we did. It perfectly fit the needs of the retired Christian couple and they were happy to pay what we wanted for it. As much as I hated to let i...

Thank God

Early last week, Rusty had an oncologist visit to review a recent Chest CT. These are done periodically to check his lungs since that’s the first place sarcoma likes to go. Everything still looked good. It seems the amputation has done its job at removing the cancer before it had time to spread.  On Friday, he finally had the surgeon’s visit he’s been waiting on for months. He was released to start the prosthetic process. It’s been a long road to get him where he is right now. It will still be a while before his new leg is complete, he’s able to walk on his own, and then eventually go back to work, but we’re finally headed in the right direction.  Thank you to everyone that has visited, called, texted, given us money, and most of all…prayed. We thank you all and we Thank God. Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 I THANK GOD - HOUSEFIRES Click here to receive an e...
