On a Roll
Rusty and I recently purchased a small travel trailer. We took it for our first adventure last weekend and have plans to take it out again in a few weeks.
Being new to this, we had lots to learn. The dealership went over some things briefly when we picked it up and I read through the owner's manual. But some things you have to learn from experience... keep your fingers out of the way when letting out the awning, make sure all jacks have been raised before you start to move, AND be sure the jacks are down before you move around too much inside.
As soon as we got it home after the purchase, I was anxious to check it all out. Rusty unhooked it from the truck but hadn't put any of the jacks down or chocked the wheels yet. It's a small, lightweight, single axle and it was parked on a slight slope. As I went inside and took a few steps toward the back, I felt the camper move. The door was still open, and I could see the ground moving. Thankfully, it only rolled a few feet, because I just knew it was going to roll down the hill and slam into the power pole with me inside.
When my sister, Amy, heard about it, she called to ask how I enjoyed my first "trip" in the camper. While the experience makes for a good story and definitely will be etched into my memory for a long time, I've decided that the only roll I want to be on is the one that's called up yonder.
The old hymn, When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder, was written in 1893 by James Milton Black. But the roll (list of names) it speaks of was written about long before that. In 1 Thessalonians, Paul tells of the day when the Lord will come for those who have called on Him as their Savior. We will then live with Him forever.
Will your name be on that list? If you aren't sure, I've attached some links from the Billy Graham Association that will tell you how you can be sure that your name is on that roll when the trumpet sounds.

How to Be Sure of Your Salvation (billygraham.org)
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so, we will be with the Lord forever. -1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
