For Such A Time
Last week, an unspeakable action was taken against someone for being bold about what they believed. I did not always agree with every statement this man made, as I'm sure many don't always agree with everything I say. I've read lots of posts over the last several days, some in support of Charlie Kirk and some against his methods. One thing everyone could agree on was that he had no issue speaking out about what he believed, and I would hope everyone would agree that violent acts against someone with a differing opinion is never ok.
It would be easy to question why God would allow such a terrible thing to happen to someone who openly professed Jesus as Lord. I certainly don't pretend to have all of the answers. However, this weekend I heard of many young people being shaken to their core and reaching out to the Lord for answers. I heard of many that attended church services for the first time ever or the first in many years. I've heard of people requesting Bibles from their Christian friends. When hearing these stories, two verses kept coming to mind... Genesis 50:20, where Joseph tells his brothers that God had turned their evil plan into good and Esther 4:14, where Mordecai tells Esther that God had put her in a certain position as part of His greater plan. Reading these verses remind me that ultimately God's plan is greater than I could ever comprehend. So instead of trying to figure it out, I will commit to live my life boldly and unashamed for Him in a time when a dying world needs Jesus more than ever.
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. -Genesis 50:20
For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” -Esther 4:14
