What Are You Waiting For?

Yesterday, I was waiting on a package. It had already been delayed once. I searched the tracking number and knew it was on the large box truck set to be delivered. However, as the end of my work day drew closer, I was afraid I was going to miss the delivery and it would be yet another day behind. I heard the familiar sound of the truck's brakes as it stopped next to the curb. Finally... the package had arrived. I got up from my desk and approached the glass door to open it for the driver. Just as I went to push it open, the truck sped away.  The driver never exited the vehicle and there were no packages outside. I know because I stepped out onto the sidewalk in disbelief and watched as the large white truck made its way in the other direction. Before long, I heard the brakes again and this time the driver met me at the door with the package. He apologized for his earlier abrupt departure and explained that he realized he needed to meet someone in a timely manner and figured he could just come back to me.

In the time it took for the truck to make its way back, I kept thinking... I was waiting on that!  As usual, a song came to mind and bounced around in my head for the rest of the day.  What Are We Waiting For? by For King & Country is considered a rally cry that urges listeners to be the light that can't be ignored, as referenced in Matthew 5.

I was reminded that time is of the essence and lost souls are more important than any package. My prayer this week is that I use the time God has allowed me to be here to let my light shine before others and point them to the Light of the World.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. -Matthew 5:14-16
