What's a Little Rain?

Kristine and James own an AIRBNB at Shoal Bay. One of the unique outdoor features is the swinging bridge that crosses the small wet weather stream. Most of the time, there’s at least a little water present.  But in times of a drought as we've had lately, it does dry up. Although this is listed in the description, some tend to read over that part and not pay it much mind. Recently, a guest complained that there was no water in the stream and said that was the main reason he had rented it. The eventual reply to the complaint was professional and courteous, unlike the urge to send… We’d like for it to be flowing too, but we don’t control the weather. Lol

This weekend, I attempted to burn boxes and leftover materials from our recent renovation. For weeks, they had piled up due to the burn ban. I was so thankful when the much-needed rain finally came, and the ban was lifted. I looked forward to having a raging fire and getting rid of the clutter that seemed to stare at me in my home and in the yard. However, when I finally had time to tend to the task, it was raining.  As the thought…Ok Lord, that's enough rain for now, entered my mind, I was immediately convicted. Our area had needed the rain for such a long while and many had been praying for it to come. Now that it had, I was ready for it to stop, all because it was inconveniencing me.

Since I couldn’t have my bonfire, Rusty and I rode around to look at the nearby streams. Sure enough, they were all flowing now. We stopped by the AIRBNB and took some photos of the water as it flowed across the stones and under the bridge.

We’ve all been disappointed at times when things weren’t quite as we wanted them to be. Whether it’s something as simple as inconveniences in the weather or something more serious like struggles in our personal lives, God allows us to experience challenges that give us opportunities to draw close to Him when we have no control over situations.  Although this may be difficult at times, we must remember that anything that brings glory to God is worth any inconvenience or struggle we may face. With that thought, I say... Jesus, bring the rain!

You sent abundant rain, O God, to refresh the weary land. -Psalm 68:9 NLT
