What Are You Missing?
Rusty and I made a trip to Mississippi this weekend to check on his dad. On the way home, I told him about a new, blue highway sign that I saw on a previous trip.It was advertising a country store in the community of Pickens, Arkansas, just south of Dumas. As many years as I’ve traveled Highway 65, I never even realized that Pickens was a place. We decided to check it out. The old store was closed for the day but we saw several beautiful homes, a bayou, and a Country Club that we never knew existed. All of which set about 1/2 mile off the main highway.
As we started back on our journey, I thought about how we can miss so many things because we are in such a hurry, we never take the time to open our eyes and truly seek.
My favorite scripture verse is Jeremiah 29:11. I'm sure many know it by heart as it is one of the most quoted. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. I would encourage everyone to look two verses further to verse 13, where we are told that we will find Him if we seek Him with all of our heart.
Are you seeking Him today? My prayer is that I keep my eyes and my heart open and that I not be in such a hurry that I miss what the Lord has in store for me.
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. -Jeremiah 29:13
