What Day Is This?
On Sunday morning, we walk into the large room we refer to as the Sanctuary. We greet each other with a smile and a handshake, take our seats, and get ready for the service. An opening prayer and some announcements kick us off before we lift our voices in song and praise. A message is preached, an altar call is given, the offering is taken, and we depart after prayer and another song. We leave with the pastor's message on our heart and the tune of the last song resonating in our head. It was a great day to worship the Lord and proclaim our faith. Too bad it only happens once a week... Or does it?
Many times we associate worship only with what happens on Sunday morning. While gathering with fellow believers is a great way to strengthen our faith, it can't be the only time we do so. Thankfully, Christian music and recorded sermons are easily available to us, but we can't forget the most important resource we have... God's Holy Word. Through prayer, scripture reading, and music that glorifies our King, we can experience worship any day of the week.
My prayer this week is that I don't neglect gathering with my church family but also always remember that every day is a day to worship.
Every day will I bless thee; And I will praise thy name for ever and ever. -Psalm 145:2
