This Isn't What I Planned

This past Sunday, all messages from Sunday School to the PM Bible Study focused on the theme of God's timing. It was something I had already been pondering on for a few days. For a while now, life hasn't gone as I expected it, and definitely not as I would have planned or hoped for. I think we all sometimes have a tendency to pray for God to work in a situation and then wonder if He heard our prayers when we don't receive the outcome we wanted.

In Proverbs, Solomon speaks a lot about the difference between man's plans and God’s. This is probably because Solomon knew that we humans mess things up any time we take matters in our own hands rather than trust in the sovereignty of God.

Over the last few days, I’ve realized that although God orchestrated events in a manner that I would have never chosen, I can clearly see how His ways are so much better than mine. I’m thankful that my eyes were opened and I can now see where He was leading with his protective hand, even through the toughest of times.

My prayer this week is that I never neglect to praise God for who He is, for what He has done, and for what He will do. Even when things aren’t going as I’d hoped.

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. -Proverbs 16:9

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. -Proverbs 19:21
